The last few days of 2014, I was in Reno, NV. It’s changed a lot since the last time I’ve been there; it felt emptier, almost like a ghost town for some reason. It was so cold there too. I think it went down to 19 degrees at some point, and it also snowed one night and we woke up to whiteness.
The hotel was incredibly nice and enormous. There was even a steamed pool outside and a couple of wedding chapels. There wasn’t a lack of things to do for sure. The main reason for the Reno trip though was to go snowboarding of course. I hadn’t been in about 7 years so it was interesting to go right out to the slopes and get back into it.
I fell on my butt a few times but for the most part, I hadn’t forgotten anything. It was incredibly cold though and the wind was unbelievable. If not held down properly, snowboards would fly through the air; that’s how strong the wind was. Riding the ski lift up the mountains was hell.
Aside from the weather, I really enjoyed the snow and realized I missed it. I saw so many little kids already skiing faster than their parents. I was sad when we had to leave, but I definitely loved coming back to the Bay 🙂
