Russell Peters: Almost Famous Tour

Last night, Palwasha and I went to see Russell Peters do his stand up show at the Warfield in San Francisco. It was so random how we decided to go too. I remember sitting backstage at Zellerbach hall during the run of Summertime. I think it was only the first act, too. Because I was bored and didn’t want to do any homework, I looked up if there were any upcoming shows in the Bay Area, because, let’s be honest, that’s all I want to do all the time. Unbelievable luck: Russell Peters was coming to SF! And the date hadn’t passed yet, which is always what happens to me, leaving me thinking, “Why didn’t I buy tickets before…”

We got to San Francisco around 6:30 or something. All I remember is how dark it was at that time. (This is why I’m actually a fan of Daylight Savings.) We found our way to the Warfield, no problem. It was about 7:20 when we got to our seats.

At 8:15, the show began with a local San Francisco comedian. He wasn’t as bad as I thought he would be! Then, it was the opening act, which I personally felt like dragged on for longer than it should have. But don’t get me wrong, it was still good. Finally, finally, a little before 9:00, Russell Peters began his show. Obviously I can’t even begin to explain how funny it was. I was so happy to actually be there after watching all his stand up online.

We got out of the show a little after 10:00. Everyone was in good spirits and the local comedian who began the show was in the lobby, passing out business cards. Palwasha got one. On the BART ride back to Berkeley, I bought tickets to see Little Shop of Horrors tomorrow night… I couldn’t help it. Plus it’s Little Shop! How could I not? I also have Chicago at the Orpheum this Saturday and a play on campus next weekend. Show overload.
