The Last Client Shoot

Last weekend, Sept 20-21, we finally shot The Last Client short film. It was an amazing experience and I am so grateful we had such a wonderful cast and crew.

Saturday morning, Chris (our DP), Ryan, and I met early to go over the shot list and plan for the day. Then it was off to the Albatross Pub in West Berkeley to set up!

Setting up the first shot of the day took forever, and I was extremely nervous for it. Finally, the cameras started to roll and I got my first taste of directing on set.

50The day zoomed by before I knew it and it was time to clean up. We were out of the bar in record time and everyone went home. Ryan and I went to a Korean restaurant for dinner, where a waiter spilled drinks all over me, but that’s a different story.

The next morning, Sunday, the cast and crew were all back at the bar, ready for the 2nd and last day of shoot. Setting up was much faster this time, as we were all used to it and had done it the previous day.

58We got to work immediately and even managed to get in a last-minute script change at the end of the day. It worked out well and the actors were on board with it. We also got some awesome pizza for lunch and actually had enough time to schedule in a lunch break for everyone.

The atmosphere on set was amazing too. Everyone was ready to work hard and understood that this was a team effort. Never have I seen a team of 20+ individuals come together so quickly and full of effort before. The entire crew was extremely efficient too.

As all good things must come to an end, so did the shoot. After the last take, I said, “That’s a wrap!” Everyone on set applauded and we were all in high spirits. People were already excited for the final product.
23Now, on to post-production and editing and all that good stuff. Thanks again to the amazing cast and crew of The Last Client. Check us out on Facebook if you haven’t had a chance yet.
