My First Experience with Final Cut Pro

Last night, I went into the CalTV office to edit my first video for Sport Shorts. I have never used Final Cut Pro before and expected to spend hours and hours just learning the program. Plus, it was on a Mac and I was born and raised on Windows.

Before the reporters came in, the Department Head of Post-production taught me the basics. I learned to import files, convert videos, and begin to add effects. Honestly, it wasn’t as difficult as I expected. By the time the reporters came in to pick and choose their clips and images, I found myself easily keeping up with them. The tricky part was getting the video to run smoothly and without any flickers, but I had lots of help from the team and I can’t thank them enough. The editing took almost three hours but when the video was finished, I felt accomplished for the night.

This was my first experience with Final Cut Pro and I’m excited to go back next week and try again.
